Welcome to the sh*t show!
Are you fed up with all the bullshit going on in the White House? Do you dread turning on the news and seeing another embarrassing mistake that makes our country look foolish? Do you feel like politicians are just playing games instead of doing their jobs?
I do, and I hate it.
I'm a middle aged, fourth generation farmer's daughter who grew up in rural Missouri. I'm married to a retired Army veteran, and I have three amazing kids--one that's mine and the two bonus kids I inherited when I married. We live a very mundane life in a small town where everyone knows everybody; I have had the opportunity to live in large cities, but I am and always will be a country girl at heart. (Although NOLA will always be my home away from home. That city is lovely.)
But lately, things just haven't been sitting right with me. We have politicians saying vile things about our country and our citizens. They say we're crime riddled, that we need the government to come in and "clean up" what they call problem cities. Legal citizens are getting swept up in raids committed by masked officers, as well as immigrants who are here legally and have done nothing wrong. We have low income Americans about to lose their healthcare and premiums that are sky-rocketing, not to mention the cost of groceries as these tariffs start kicking in.
The US just isn't looking quite right. Politicians are busy fighting over stupid shit that only furthers their own agendas. They certainly aren't acting like they work for us, the people who gave them their jobs. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd say they all act like we work for them, which is beyond unacceptable.
So I decided to write this book in protest. I've never written a book, and while I wouldn't have ever guessed this would be the one, I'm really happy with how it has turned out. It was cathartic, and I hope it can help give a little levity to anyone who feels frustrated like me.
