Does Josh Hawley’s farm bill really help farmers?
Josh Hawley recently introduced a bill to Congress titled “Support Our Farmers and Ranchers Act of 2025” that caught my attention. As I have mentioned before, I come from a farming family—my great-grandparents and grandparents made their living on a 360-acre pig and cattle farm, and my dad still maintains a small hobby farm on 40 acres. While I love animals, my passions lie in growing food; my grandmother used to grow an acre garden every year and canned food for all of us. B

When your childhood heroes become zeroes…
I read an article in Men’s Health this morning about Chuck Norris—apparently he just turned 85, and is still in excellent shape. I got a few paragraphs in when I thought to myself, it’s such a shame he supports Trump and MAGA, I really looked up to him as a kid. Then my mind jumped to Kevin Sorbo, another person I looked up to as a kid, and how much I loved watching Hercules every week while it was on, admiring the character and his determination to stick to his morals and et

Trying to find sanity in a sea of lies; strong leaders vs egoists
I recently read a friend’s Facebook post that said something about feeling like they were reliving the past, in reference to current politics. I smirked when I read it because I can very much relate. I commented, saying that I had gone to my first protest at 17 over the war in Iraq as a student journalist; ironically, I was in the same park 23 years later protesting the President of the United States. I was vocal about my dislike of Trump his first term in office. Back then,

MTG's Sudden Reversal and the Ramifications
Never in a million years did I expect Trump to throw Marjorie Taylor Greene under the bus. When I heard he was having meetings with the Republicans who had signed on their support to release the Epstein files, I wasn’t surprised in the least. I was surprised that they decided to go against him and stick to their morals and commitment to the victims—I honestly didn’t see that coming. I assumed they would capitulate as they have in the past whenever Trump has demanded support

Supporting the "Blue Wave" when you're not a Democrat
I can't tell you how many times I've been called a liberal, or some derogatory version of the word, online due to my views on human rights. For a long time I ignored it and let people believe what they wanted; I'm not going to get into an argument with a stranger on the internet over my political views just because they assume the wrong thing--I've got plenty of better ways to waste my time and I'd rather not use what little I have to perform the virtual equivalent of beating

No Kings Rallies Restore Hope
When I'm not writing snarky books about our absolutely terrifying political situation, I like to go practice what I preach. I attended the June 14th No Kings rally in Kansas City, MO and was amazed at the turnout; Mill Creek Park was overflowing with people holding the most creative, and sometimes just blunt, signs. I had the good fortune to attend with a friend and local comedian, and it really just felt like a great time being around thousands of like-minded people of both

Welcome to the sh*t show!
Are you fed up with all the bullshit going on in the White House? Do you dread turning on the news and seeing another embarrassing mistake that makes our country look foolish? Do you feel like politicians are just playing games instead of doing their jobs? I do, and I hate it. I'm a middle aged, fourth generation farmer's daughter who grew up in rural Missouri. I'm married to a retired Army veteran, and I have three amazing kids--one that's mine and the two bonus kids I i
